Style With Stripes This Season!

Are you bored of the florals and basics in your closet? Revamp your closet with some stripes this season. Various designers are including stripes in their latest spring collection 2012. They are collaborating stripes with solid colors, floral, and patterns to create trendy attires. However, such looks may be too dramatic or out-of-place for everyday wear. So, it is essential to pair this animal inspired style with the right pieces. If you wear it appropriately, it can enhance your figure and personality.

Stripes can be worn in different ways. The classic type of stripes is the horizontal ones. Sometimes, women consciously do not opt for horizontal stripes, because they think it will make them look big. The good news is, this is a sheer myth, and horizontal stripes are not only for the skinny. The trick is to select clothing with more space that is negative or white space. When selecting your stripes, think about the ratio of negative space to positive space and the amount of the curve you want shown. The more negative space, the more slimming/flattening your stripes will be. In addition, clothing with horizontal stripes are usually worn loose; so as not to create a widening effect. Thus, fuller women should look for thicker stripes as this will help suave any lumps or bumps. Petite women should go for thin or pinstripes as this compliments their figures. However if, you want to create a slim and tall effect, pick vertical stripes. This kind of stripes suits all kind of women, but it accentuates curves the best.

Stripes are a perfect base for experimenting with assorted prints. However, for a modern and chic look, wear stripes with basic solid colors in neutral shades. A striped skirt with a modest top can look fab, as can a striped top with plain skirt or jeans. Black and white are classic, but don’t be afraid of other combinations. Of course, you can go as bright or clashing as you like if you are daring, but one brightly colored stripe next to a neutral stripe can look fantastic. The best shades are reds and blues, or grays and creams with reds or pinks. So leave the florals in your closet and go for stripes this season!
