Lakme India Fashion week is one of the premier fashion events in the country. Every year, it is eagerly awaited by all and sundry of the Fashion Industry. Ever since it has introduced the Summer-Resort line, the popularity of the show has increased exponentially.

So, on the same vein, Lakme has announced the Lakme Fashion Week Summer-Resort 2012 to take place from March 1^st to March 6^th 2012 at The Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. Six whole days of fun, fashion and glamour! They had first introduced the resort line of clothes to promote the concept of resort wear in India, and in this respect they seem to have succeeded. Lakme and IMG have always maintained that the object behind these shows is to elevate the fashion scene in India to an international level, and also to be able to promote and encourage new talent. Accordingly, this year’s show will also feature many new designers making their maiden foray into the big time runway world. The Gen Next category at Lakme Fashion Week will witness the debut of newbie designers Tanya Sharma, Megha Garg, Manoj and Vinod, Archana Rao, Shikha and Vinita, and the name that is already creating some buzz, Yogesh Chaudhary. These designers were mentored by the very experienced Aki Narula. Every year Lakme selects some new faces to be part of this prestigious fashion show. And this year is no different, with 11 new models being given this once in a lifetime opportunity. As a tribute to the Indian textile industry, there will be a whole day of the show dedicated to just Indian textiles like Khadi, Jute, Chanderi, Mashru, and Kota among many others as well as the use of traditional Indian workmanship.

As with every Lakme India Fashion Week, there will be quite a big Bollywood attendance at the show. Actors like Sonakshi Sinha, Sonam Kapoor and Kunal Kapoor are expected to add that extra glam factor at the show this year.
