Indian Resort Fashion week 2011

We always have to look up to exclusive international designers for trendy beachwear. But not anymore, resort wear is all set to venture in our home land. Call it beachwear, swimwear or resort wear, for  years this segment has been neglected in our markets.  Designer beachwear has remained low on popularity and demand in India. It can be due to the conservative Indian culture, where women are not comfortable  about wearing extremely revealing clothes and flaunting their figure in public places. However, with an increase in number of travel enthusiast in the country, the designers are now including beachwear in their collection. Recently, resort wear made its presence felt in the Indian design circuit with the India Resort Fashion Week 2011 (IRFW)
Its an event which was spread over four days, with number of designers showcasing their resort wear collection. Mumbai-based designer James Ferreira opened the show while  Manish Malhotra impressed the audience with his exclusive beach wear in the grand finale. Some of the best collections were presented by designers like Asmita Marwah, Babita malkani pria kataria puri and  shivani naresh. the shows were held on the pristine sands of Goa with the beautiful ocean in the background. All shows portrayed  the true essence of international resort wear.  After a great audience response and with a stupendous success of this colorful fashion week, experts feel that Indian resort wear is now a par with international brands like Victoria’s Secret.
